Proverb about the wolf, from Travels with Charlie
Proverb about the wolf, from Travels with Charlie

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I read Travels with Charlie when I was in high school and I seem to remember an interesting Chinese proverb being mentioned when Steinbeck decides not to kill a wolf that he's set his sights on. The long and the short of the proverb says something to the effect of any life you save is yours to take care of for the rest of your life. I was just wondering if anyone knew the exact proverb and if it was in fact from Travels with Charley. I cannot find it online and while I would love to reread the book, I'm a bit crunched for time and the proverb itself is what I'm after. Thanks Guys!
