    Hud/housing assistance
Question from Arkansas. I was just wondering if anybody knew how hud worked? I thought that when you sign up they approve you for an amount.. If you go over that amount you would be responsible for that. But I was told yesterday that it was pretty much based on the rent I signed up and she told me if I got a house for $500 they would be able to pay $50 if rent was $400 about $30.. This took me by surprise. I thought I was going to get a set amount that I was going to get approved for. Any response would be grateful!

I take it you do have income that they base the amount on?
It is according to your income then they do a percentage compared to the amount of rent that the landlord wants.
