    Connecting to 2" shower drain raiser in concrete
    We are remodeling our basement bathroom and would like to install a new shower where one previously stood. The pan lines up exactly with the raiser. The problem is that at some point the raiser appears to have broken off an inch or so below the surface level of the concrete floor. It looks to be a 2" I.D. PVC pipe. Simplest solution would be to extend it with a coupler that fits INSIDE the pipe (i.e. a male coupler) so that I don't have to break up the concrete to get a female coupler around the existing pipe.

    Is there such a product?

    You don't need to break much concrete but that is the correct fix. If you were to find a male coupler you will have reduced your drain to 1 1/2" which is no longer code.

    If it is only an inch, than you could be fine w/o breaking the slab. Drains are about 2 1/2" deep. The seal takes place towards the bottom. Buy a drain and place it over the pipe. See how deep it reaches...
