    New Hunter 44360 thermostat is blowing warm air!
    Firstly- I know nothing about air conditioners, wiring, and anything in between.

    I have attempted to replace my ancient, mercury-filled, White-Rodgers (1F58W-72) thermostat with a new digital Hunter (44360). Installation seemed to go fine, but now the unit is blowing luke-warm air instead of cold. I live in Florida... and it's the middle of summer. Enough said.

    Here is how the White-Rodgers thermostat was wired:
    G = green wire
    Y = yellow wire
    O = orange wire
    X1 = blue wire
    R = red wire

    Here is how I have the new Hunter thermostat wired:
    G = green wire
    Y1 = yellow wire
    Y/O = orange wire
    RH = red wire
    * There is a jumper from RH to RC and I did not use the blue wire (as I think it is not needed for the battery operated thermostats).

    There are a number of options of the back of the thermostat and I don't really know the correct setting:
    STD or HP -- I have it on STD
    HG or HE -- I have it on HG

    I hope someone can provide me with some help! I am dying here!

    If you have a heat pump set it to HP as explained in your install manual.

    HE is heat electric? Is that what you have? If so put it there because you are now set up for HG which is heat gas.

    Here is the wiring from your old stat

    You may not have the correct set up for the reversing valve if you have a heat pump. That will stop it from cooling since by default it stays in the heat mode unless it gets a signal to the reversing coil to allow A/C.

    Thank you for your quick response!

    Out of desparation, I phoned the Hunter thermostat technical support people and they said I had everything hooked up correctly. All I had to do was switch it to HE and HP (like you suggested). It's working now! Yayyy! :D

    They will smoke if hooked up incorrectly especially the heat anticipators on the old style.
