    New house, old AG pool, unlevel
    Ok, let me preface this that I have pretty much zero knowledge about pools. I didn't even want a pool, but it came with the house we just bought and the wife and kids really want it.

    The problem is the pool is seriously out of whack. It is a round pool that we measured at about 30' in diameter. One side is either being pushed down by the deck or is pushing the deck down. Part of the pool edge has actually slipped under the deck and is pushing against the deck supports. I did jack up the side of the deck that is being affected, but fear making it completely level because if the pool should go under the support, it may collapse as it will no longer be braced by the deck.

    A huge part of me really wants to just throw the entire thing away or pray toGod that someone comes in the middle of the night, drains it, and steals it. However, I am pretty sure I am going to be forced into at least giving repair a try.

    I have read many threads in this forum and from what I see, basically we have to drain it, and take it apart and re-level it.. I really have no idea how old it is, but I am guessing about 5 - 10 years old.

    Should I just hire someone to do this or can someone who is ignorant on installing pools even give it a try? What do I have to consider when it comes to the deck? I am afraid that I may do more harm than good by draining it and attempting it myself, but maybe some tips here can help.

    We emptied it yesterday and now see that the edge that is under the deck has partially washed out underneath the liner.. What are my options?

    "pray toGod that someone comes in the middle of the night, drains it, and steals it." seems your prayer is partially answered. This pool appears to be installed all wrong. Now is the time to reinstall correcting from the start or to pitch it out, your call.

    Well, I took the task on myself to level that part that washed out.. It is refilling now and seems to be OK, but in the end I will probably take your advice. We are going to let the kids swim in it for about another month and then dissemble the entire thing, put it in the shed and next year we will hire someone to put it in right.

    Any thoughts on ballpark figures for pool installations? I have no idea what would be a fair price to install a 30' pool next to a deck.

    You will need a new liner so there is your first $250 spent plus installation another $350-$500. If you can level the ground with sand the average homeowner can do a pool installation. It takes a bit of skill and about 6 friends to get the liner in correctly. You pull it fairly tight over the pool and only allow the very center to slightly touch the ground. Add about 10 gallons of water so the liner can show you where its center will be, if its off you can shift the liner by pulling on one side and allow excess liner to be feed in from the opposite side. When you are happy with placement just add more water and the weight of the water will pull the liner in over the wall.
