That will require providing hot and cold water supply, a 20 amp 120 volt electric supply for the washer, drainage and vent pipeing for the washer. Providing the water supply and the 20 amp electric is usually quite feasible. Just how difficult depends on how far and where there is an available hot and cold water supply. Same is true for the electric. There may even be a usable outlet in that area. Providing drain may or may not be possible. Because the supply is under pressure it can be made to go any where. The drain pipe must of course slope down and connect into some existing drain. That may or may not be possible. Assuming a single story garage, venting of the drain line should not be a problem. Any thing is possible of course if you are willing to pay the cost.

The dryer will require a 240 volt, 30 amp electric service. How difficult that will be depends on the location of the electric service panel. Exaust venting of the dryer should quite feasible.

Whether you can do this yourself depends on the above mention conditions and your skills.

How can I add a washer and dryer hookup [ 2 Answers ]

I currently have a washer hook up but there is not a dryer hook up. I am wanting to move the washer hook up to the kitchen and add adryer hook up. How hard would that be? Or would it be easier to just add a dryer hook up in the kitchen and leave the washer where it is? Thanks

I am looking to get a condo but the condo (on second floor-only two floors) does not have w/d hookups. I was told it can be done (but I'm finding out for sure if it'll get approved by the board). Anyway, my question is does anyone have any idea of how much (estimate) it would be to install w/d...
