    Odor in my house
Hi, I have had an odor in the house for the last 8 weeks and still can't track what it is. It smells like gas at times. The funny thing is that we don't have gas at all. I had a plumber come through all he did is smell the sinks and my vent stacks and said my plumbing is fine. Its not a dead rat or mice the smell gets stronger more during the day and not at night. How can I detect if I have a pluming leak somewhere do I replace all my traps and seal please help.

    Regards,

    Laurie

We had a problem with the sewer smells when a wind blew from the east only... go figure!

Anyway, it was suggested to try anti-freeze in the sewer drains(it doesn't dry up in the sewer like water does, especially in the drains not used often)

Or if you like it was also suggested we might use cooking oil instead.

    Hope this helps some,

Before we can help you will have to localize the smell. It sounds like sewer gas. Start at the toilets and progress to all the drains including the floor drain. Let me know, Tom
