Put the original pull switch back in. How many capacitors does it have? What is the make and model?

Do the blades spin freely by hand?

You may need to change both capacitors. Keep the original pullchain.

Is it controlled by anything other than an on/off wall switch?

Blades turn freely, controlled by wall switch, I'll see if the place I got the 4 wire cap can order the other cap.

If it's just a basic on/off switch it's probably not the switch. Most likely a capacitor. Also check the reverse switch.

I just installed a ceiling fan, and though the fan works great when the light is turned on, when the light is turned off, all power seems to be drained from the fan. I've tried to rewire, but no luck. And when the light and fan are on together, any small imbalance in the "fan" disappears. Does...
