    Probation Violation 1st Offense
My son is on deferred adjudication probation he recently went to comprehensive assessment and treatment services program that is part of his probation requirements. The counselor he meet with said that a couple of months ago that his urine test came back dirty. The counselor told him that he needed to tell his probation officer and ask her how come she never said anything to him. Should he ask his probation officer that question or is he opening a can of worms so to speak? Why would the counselor expect him to bring up something from 2 months ago? Is he in trouble and is she giving him the chance to tell on himself where it would look better? Also do you think he could get another chance seeing is they never did anything? :(

If your son tested dirty and he knows he tested dirty, there is a good possibility that the results will be forwarded on to the probation office. It would be better for him to tell them before they tell him. He's just delaying the enivatable.

Also this could even be a "test" of honesty they do, to see if he will be responsible and do what he is told in the program.

I offered my probation officer the information that I had a test result come back positive from the treatment center I was attending even though I hadn't used. Since I had regularly tested negative with her I was hoping that she would be able to help me figure out why a test would come back negative if I hadn't been using... horrible idea. After giving her the number to the nurse who administered the test that came back positive instead of rewarding my honesty or helping me solve the mystery of the false positive I was repeatedly accused of being a liar " no test is positive unless you used that drug" and I now have my probation revoked and have to go in front of the judge who will most likely give me 60 days. I will spend 60 days in jail for something I didn't do because I shared extra information with my probation officer and allowed her access to information she would never had asked for had I not mentioned it.
