How would I know if a child is being abused or neglected
My fiancée has a 5 year old daughter whom lives with her mom and stepdad. We get her everyother weekend. And usually when its our weekend she ends up staying for almost a week at a time because her mom doesn't even bother calling and checking on her. Each time she comes over she has head lice, which is a pain to treat. She's got unexplained brusises on her most of which are more noticeable on her legs. Which I understand how rough some kids will play and get bruised up. But I see these bruises on her all the time. She has come over just completely filthy and her clothes never fit properly. There was one night when we had her that I noticed what looked like a welt right below one shoulder. I've even been in his ex wife's house and its really filthy. I wouldn't even let a dog live in that filth. We've gone to get her on numerous occasions and each time there is bag after bag of trash just sitting right by there front door. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? Does that give him a better chance of getting custody of his daughter? There was an issue in the past with the little girls mom where the judge already told my fiancée that if DCEFS ever gets called again that he''ll get custody. I've asked him before why in the world he was with her to begin with.
