    Chemicals in Water Treatment
    What are the main fuction of using the following chemicals in Water Treatment :
    1-NA2S2O5-SODIUM METABISULFIT
    2- NaOCl
    3- H2SO4
    4- NAOH
    5- COAGULANT
    6- POLYELECTROLYTE

    1. Used to prevent biological fouling of an R.O. membrane during storage.
    2,3,4. Essentially "detergents" used for membrane cleaning of mineral and biological deposits.
    5. Assists in keeping "desolved salts" into groups large enough for the membrane to filter out. R.O. membranes will filter out particals down to the size of a virus.
    6. Ph adjustment of product water.

    Thanks, I agree with you. I'm new at this... I did a job in Angola, Africa, once. There the R.O. plants' chemicals had been stored in direct sunlight, and the lables badly faded. The result was the operators (whose english wasn't fluent) weren't sure what they were doing. I was sent in to "clean up the mess". I suppose a "knee jerk" reaction caused my answere.

A client has a well ,Iput a RO unit in,it has a potassium pro. Tank , softner, after the install the filter in the RO was clogged in three days with a pinkish,rusty deposit... what is it? The home is in a rustic country setting about 180 ft deep well. Thanks
