I have a room with 2 ceiling fans. I have a light switch with 2 switches. Each switch turned on a light on a ceiling fan. The fans worked by using a pull chain on the fan. I decided to install 2 new fans. The new ceiling fans had a white, black, green and blue wire. Ceiling fan fixture one had a white, black and green wire. I connected white to white, black to black and green to green. The second ceiling fan fixture had a white, black, green and a red wire. I connected white to white, black to black and green to green. I did not use the blue wire of the fan or the red wire in the ceiling fixtue. After completing connections, one light switch did work at all and the other light switch turned on the lights on both fans at the same time. I do not like this result. I would like to use one switch to turn on both lights and the other switch to turn on both fans. If this is impossible I would like to change it back to the way it was before I installed the new fans. Any advice would be great!

Ceiling fixture 1 has only black, white, and green, fan could have been pull chain but there is no extra switch leg for light, plus you don't mention hooking up the blue(light), yet they work?
Some one may have used a neutral or ground for switch leg(wrong and dangerous).

I hooked the blue wire with the red wire and the other light switch starting working properly. Each fan is controlled by one switch. However one switch controls both fans. I am OK with this setup.

Good deal, if in conduit and you can get an extra conductor between both fans, then you could have 1 switch for both lights, and 1 switch for both fans. Take Care

What were the original fans, and how were they wired?
