    4 way switch question
I have two hall lights that are operated from 3 locations. With the 4 way switch in the down position ,the three way switches work OK,but when the 4 way switch is turn up the three way switches will not turn the lights off correctly. This has been like this from when we moved into the house. Is the 4way switch bad or is the wiring mixed up on the 4 way switch?

I suspect that there is a miswire someplace, which is common mistake.

I found this picture at http://www.thecircuitdetective.com/3and4wyinfo.htm:

One of the easier diagrams to follow. The key is to have the commons at each 3 way connected correctly. One gets the feed, and the other feeds the light.

    See if this helps.
