trying to find full name of artist of oil painting
I have an oil painting that is of birds in a sun burst. It is an original and signed only by
tigran... I have had the painting since 1988 about. I thought it was acquired at an auction in San Fransico at some time before that... I guess bottom line is that I would like to know the value of and who the painter is... any help would be appreciated... thanks.

There was a painter by the name, "Tigran Basil", who painted with Aydin Aghdashloo and Biuk Ahmary. Possibly a place to start.

What is suggested in the above answer would be a good place to start. Are there any other identifying marks on the painting or frame that might be helpful to know concerning the identification of it?

    Thanks!

Here is a picture of the item and the signature. May be this will help. There is the signature of tigran and then another marking in center of bottom that could be some mark.

Very good photos. Is it possible for you to get a close, focused, straight on picture of PICT1455.pdf ? It looks like it could be some sort of identifying mark. Blown up, it looks very distinctive.

I added 2 shots of what I assume you were referring to. When I get to close the picture seems to get a little grainy. It could be me, my camera, the oil or the canvas. Any help on solving this is greatly appreciated... thanks

Here is information on the above listed artist who was associated and dedicated particular works done to Tigran Basil. Maybe he could identify the markings. I've tried different combinations as to what they appear to be with no luck as of yet.

After seeing the images, this painting can not be one of Tigran Basil's works. Also, the signature is not his either. My memory fails me as how he spelled his last name, with a 'z' or an 's'.
I knew him personally, and familiar with his style. He is/was one of the masters in Iran. He was an Armenian, and native of New Julfa, Isfahan. I don't know when he moved to Tehran. I knew him in late '60s in Tehran. He signed his paintings mostly in Latin alphabet, and occasionally in Persian.

Remember that Tigran is a fairly common Armenian name.

Thank-you vaz101 for your assistance with the identification of this unknown artist. Yes, after a lot of research, I did find that the name, Tigran, was/is widely used Armenian name.
