    Idenity fraud at work
A fellow employee called a national help desk, associated with our employer, identified herself as me, gave them my computer user #, and verified the last 4 digits of my social security # in order to have my password changed on one of many different computer programs at work. There is no financial gain on the particular program she wanted into.
What obligation does my employer have to me, and what discipline for the offender is appropriate and legal?
    Thank you

    Hello m:

Well, I don't know WHY they did it... But, your employers owes you nothing. What did they do? The person should be fired.

You should fire yourself if YOU let this person have your SS.

Was it proven that the other employee did this? How did she get your SS#?

I see no obligation on the part of your employer but I have to agree - how did this person get the last 4 digits of your SS number? Also how did he/she get your computer user number?

Do you know why he/she did this? I don't see that anyone was harmed here but I would think your employer would be unhappy because of the fraud involved, whether there was financial gain or not.
