    Mathematical Word Problems
    A banquet hall offers a chicken dinner for $16 and a beef dinner for $18. 300 guests have orderd their meals in advance, and the total cost for the wedding is $5256. How many of each type of dinner was orederd?

    You have a small system of equations to solve.

    Let x = the number of chicken dinners and y=the number of beef dinners.

    So,

    But the chicken costs 16 and the beef 18. This totals 5256.



    Solve the system and you're in business.
