    Trying to get pregnant
    Hi,

My husband and I are trying to have a baby. I recently came off my because in march. I didn't have a period in April but went 45 days until I had one in may. In June I had one which was 29 days from the last one. I have been keeping track of my cervical mucus and even tried the opk which I didn't find very accurate. My question is if I'm having my periods and having intercourse pretty much every other day at the week of ovulation why is it that nothing is happening? I should be ovulating if I'm having periods and by now the pill should be out of my system. I know it may take some time but I seem to be keeping track of everythink but still nothing any suggestions.

Usually, if you are having regular periods, you will be ovulating, but not always. And, it is not always easy to determine the time of ovulation. It can take months, often a year or so, before pregnancy is achieved for many couples.
OPKs don't work well for everyone, just as temping and charting doesn't always either... but they can sometimes be useful tools, along with changes in cervical mucus, position changes of the cervix, etc.. If you are focusing on just the week you think ovulation is most likely, you may be missing the window of opportunity. Until you have more regular cycles, and even when you do, consider having sex every other day or third day throughout your cycle... starting right after your period ends. You can add a few more sessions around the time you believe you are the most fertile for good measure, but this way you can be assured the sperm will be ready and waiting for when ovulation does occur. Even with good timing, it can take time however, as there are a number of factors that come into play, so try not to get too discouraged if it doesn't happen as quickly as you think it should. Good luck!
