Married to a Portuguese in Philippines
Hi. I am married to a Portuguese in 1999. Sadly, he left for Portugal and I never saw him again. There was no communication since 2000. I had approached the Portuguese embassy in Manila but for 4 years they had done nothing at all to help me out. My questions are: (1) Apparently my husband in name is missing in action (he could be living with someone else; for all I know!), how can I severe this marriage? I was nullity since this does not sound a\like a marriage at all! How do I severe/annul this marriage? (2) He married me and abandoned me at his whim! Do I have any right at all as his wife since we married legally in the Philippines, by a mayor of Manila? I would want to move on with my life already. How can I do this? I appreciate your help. Thanks.

ํYou can file for annulment or divorce on ground of abandonment in local court. He does not need to be there. You may need a divorce attorney. Do not bother with the embassy, this is not their business.
