    Water pipe leak in slab
I hava a leak in a water pipe that runs through my slab. Is there a way to detect just how far in the leak is. It drips down in the basement at the spot where the pipe goes into the slab. I really would like to avoid digging up slab as it is actuallt the floor of my den on the main level. Please advise

    Thanks

The way you pose your question it looks like the leak is over head and runs down the pipe into the slab.

Could you be a little more specific in your description? Is this leak under the cemenht or does it run down to it? If the wet spot's where the pipe goes into the slab the cement will have to come up and the pipe repaired. However, be advised that water, like electricity, will follow the path of least resistance so the actual leak may be some distance from the wet spot. In my area all of our houses are on a slab. When we have a slab leak we call in a leak detecting service to pinpoint the leak. Sorry, looks like your den will be tore up for a bit. Regards and good luck, Tom
