    Blood count
    1. My HGB is 7 the range is 12-16 and the other test was iron; mine was 9; the range is 30-170. The doctors want to give me iron via IV. Am I in a bad state, and how common is this?:confused:

    2. Is it true that people with the sickle cell trait get less oxygen than those without, what are other disadvantages of having the trait?

    My aunt just had the same issues.

    They ended up giving her shots to help with kidney function, two weeks in the hospital getting 2 units of blood, and a shot of iron every other day.

    They sent her home yesterday, HGB was at 11, said they will just have to monitor her more closely than her normal every 6 months checkup, probably at least every 90 days now.

    They never did say exactly what the cause was, and decided after 2 weeks in the hospital, she could probably get better at home?

    Wish I had more information as well.
