How can I GUARANTEE that my out of state probation transfer from PA to CA will accept
I'm currently beginning the out of state transfer process from PA to CA and want to make sure I dot all my I's and cross all my T's so there is no chance of being rejected after waiting 3 months for their response. I will be moving there to live with a friend... however I do have immediate family that lives in the state. I will not however be living with them, but they are THERE. I have a job already lined up and can provide proof of this. Is there anything I can do to make sure I get approved for this move. Can I contact California in some way, or have family call someone there to put in a few good words. Any advice here is greatly appreciated. Thanks and look forward to hearing back from everyone.

This is a good sticky that excon posted awhile ago regarding transfer of probation. Maybe this will help you with your question.

    Hello derek:

Even if you follow my advice to the letter, and my advice IS the best around, there's STILL no guarantee.

There is no for sure, the one state may not want to release you, and the other state may not want you to move there. They just don't have to, all you can do is apply and wait.

Well my county has told me to go to the courthouse to pay the money to start the transfer and bring all information about where ill be living, working and what family I have in the state. So does this mean that my county is allowing it and now I will just have to await Los Angeles County approval. Cause I actually called LA county and they told me basically that they accept everyone. The guy sounded pretty sure of what he was saying too. Like "do the transfer and we are going to accept u". So where do I stand now?

About all you can do at this point is to maintain compliance and hope for the best. As was mentioned above, there is no absolute guarantee that any probation transfer will be approved and when I was a probation officer in MD, some states were really getting strict about accepting out-of-state cases for transfer.
