    Trying to undrestand the law
My son was convicted for the offence of foreign leg importing controlled drug under the misuse of drug act 1971 act s.3.. He was woking for a security company for a year ,when he received a letter saying he can't work there no more . He received a felony drug charge while living in the usa ,which he was deported back to the uk ,where he was born. Is this immigration in usa writing this convition on his record or home land security in uk .I do know immigration have classed his offence as a aggravated felon. He lived in the usa from 6 years of age ,never left the country ,had his green card ,never got in any trouble until he was 17 and 18 years old. His security job he got when he returned to the uk. It is all so complicated , he has started a new life and his past is holding him down.he just received the letter stating that conviction.I thought his record in the usa would not follow him to the uk. He spent 6 month in jail for his crime ,immigration took him the day he was meant to be released, then he was kept for 7 month before they deported him. Is there an error in the report they gave him ,all this for a $40 drug sale .

Any charges involve in drugs is number 1 on the top of deportation list. Living in US since young age does not give him any privilege. I think timing is not good for him as UK just started background check on every visitors... so he may have hard time there.

The other choice is relocation to country that has no restrictions on visitor's criminal records.. it may not be easy but he does not have much choices. Appeal on ground of humanity definitely won't help in this case.

    Hello again, j:

I think we talked about this before... At least I answered your question, but didn't hear back from you. I don't know why.

I'm going to give you a similar answer. Of course, his record will follow him EVERYWHERE he goes. I don't know who told you that it wouldn't, but they were wrong.

I'm not sure what you want this time. Last time you were bothered by the fact that the charge seems misstated... I replied that it wouldn't make any material difference if the correct charge were listed.

If you want me to feel sorry for him, I don't. If you think he was mistreated, that's your prerogative. I don't.

These posts should be combined - continuing to post the same question with different phrasing isn't going to get different answers.
