If what you have is a lithograph, then it's a print of the original painting.

On the following link can be found quite a few sites with information about the original painting. Constable/The Haywain - Google Search And, on this other link, is a neat, interactive image where you can find out other information as to what is portrayed in the painting. Not a student- know very little about art. Have an elderly sister who is retiring and has some paintings that she has asked me about as to value. Thank you for your help, and yes, it is a reproducton of the original painting. Are these ever valuable- other than the value as a decorative piece?

Thank you for the clarification as to whether you are a student or not! You were asking so many questions about art, that I was beginning to wonder... We get a lot of students who use this site to try to get people to answer their homework questions for them!

Some reproduction prints by artists can have considerable monetary value. It's depends on who the artist was and the quality of the print. I see, where on one site on the following search, where a print of that work is for sale for $45.00.

Constable The Haywain Print for Sale - Google Search

Constable, John Fine Art Prints for Sale - New Zealand Art Prints

If someone really loves a particular piece of art, be it an original or a reproduction, then its "value" could be priceless!

Now it makes sense! I couldn't figure out why you thought I was an art student (especially since I obviously knew extremely little!). My sister is retired and downsizing and lives in the midwest- she lives on SS now and am trying to help her so she doesn't give away for nothing something that could help her financially. She has had so many 'opinions' that I thought it was best to get some definite direction. This site has helped tremendously, although she pretty much doesn't have anything original by what I'm learning except the Charlotte Becker "Sweet Dreams" painting. I appreciate the shared knowledge this site produces.

I recently stumbled across a painting of two dogs (possibly 1 dog/1 cat) and have been trying to find out more about it with no luck. It is framed on an Anco Bilt 24x30 frame. There is no identifying marks on the back of the painting, only what appears to be the mark of the painter underneath...

I do not know the artist or the name of the painting, but I can remember slightly what it looks like, it is of a skeleton with a crown on strapped into a chair with white flames burning him and there is another man in the background/off to the side that is looking at him, if anyone knows of this...

Do you know this painting? [ 4 Answers ]

When I was in Dublin last summer I saw a man drawing on the pavement. I'd never seen anyone do it, and I thought it was so cool. He was copying from a painting. It was a young lady on a boat. She had a little parasol with her, if I'm not mistaken, and I also think she was wearing a hat. There was a...
