The mystery of my condenser fan
I have a 208/230 condenser fan and it trips out on high temp. It happens to trip out, then compressor gets hot, then pops a fuse. I checked line and load voltage and got 242.5. The rating for the comp is 208/230. I checked rotation and it was fine. I am not sure what to look at next. I have been told that the fan falls with limits of usage, but it just doesn't seem right for it to keep shutting off. I don't know what to do. Could it be that the compressor is getting too hot that it will then cause the fan to overheat. Any suggestion will help. Thank you

It could be that the outside condenser is very dirty in side the coil area where you cannot see and this is preventing air from going through the coil and cooling the motor. It will also cause higher than normal head pressure.

If the motor or fan blade has been replaced it could also be the wrong pitch blade, wrong speed fan motor, a weak motor internal safety device, or the motor is not turning in the correct rotation.
