Last year my grandma agreed to open up acouple credit card accounts on line with me as an authorized user. Well we've been making payments on them always and then the interest kicked in and they are like almost maxed. This year she got sick and at he age can't remember things to well and needs some care. My uncle step in and is P.O.A. we haven't spoken in years and he;s had some grudges against us because gram has always been there and helped out. Well now I see that the cards are cancellled. I check them daily on line and they are cancelled. So he had to find out.last year when she agreed to the accounts we had grandma sighn a paper that she was allowed us to use the cards and we are to make all payments and we sighned also. Can my uncle take anykind of legal action even if we have a sighned paper from her. We of course will continue to pay on the cards till they are paid off.

If he is her "guardian" now, then he can do anything he needs to do (legally) to keep her finances safe. If he thought there was a risk of you not paying the cards off, then he would be able to act on her accord.

But you stated in the post that "the interest kicked in and they are like almost maxed," so there's not a whole lot you can do with them other than pay them off! So why not just pay them off, and leave the issue alone.

If you wanted her to get the cards for you because you don't have any credit, then apply for a few student cards. They are easy for young people to get, but it would be dumb to get new cards and MAX them out also. If she thought that you were responsible enough to pay for "your" cards, then surely you are old enough to know all about the "hazards" of credit card debt. You might be better off trying to get a bank account and a debit/credit card. These can be used anywhere that you can use a credit card.

I don't think so, you were autorized user, have the paper and you are paying back... What's the problem?
