    I want to be OK.
I feel as though I've been depressed since I was around seven believe it or not. It was then that I first started having suicidal thoughts. I have been a self harmer and am slowly overcoming this but I still feel very suicidal and depressed. Im having trouble eating any food at all, drinking, and sleeping. Yet all I want to do is sleep. I've recently had to deal with an abortion and the abandonment of my boyfriend (my baby's father) I am tired of feeling so depressed and wanting to die all the time.

What steps do I need to take? Do I need anti-depressants? To see a counsellor? I feel so helpless :(

It is never a bad idea to go to a couselor or doctor and medication may be needed at times. Without a complete evaluation by a professional none of use can really tell. The first great step is you see your need, that is almost 1/2 the battle since so many don't believe they are having trouble or do not want help

Your doctor can guide you through this painful time and help you with your issues.

Please see him soon, and be honest, and forthright with him.

It is always good to know that most people are not powerless in the face of life. In addition, it is very important to have positive core values from which to guide your thoughts and actions; that makes all the difference in the world in turning around a very unhappy life.

Buddhism has some very valuable teachings on how to lessen suffering... I would suggest you learn about some of the teachings. You also have to begin to have a life full of exercise whether you want to or not.

Many people will be helpful and loving to you throughout your life, but you have to do the work to lessen your suffering and kill the negative impulses to damage yourself and your life.

    Best wishes to you,
