    Wireless network not connected
    Hi everyone,
I installed a linksys wireless-N pci card on my computer after I installed the linksys wireless-N router on my other computer. The problem is, when I powered the computer, the one with the newly installed pci card it says it's not connected. I tried to use the repair options in the computer but still it's not working. When I double click the wireless icon it say that I have to take a look at microft's (WCZ) or article 872211. What is this al about? Please help. Thanks

This wireless stuff ain't automatic. You need to configure the router with a group of settings that matches any existing wired network and provides for a secure wireless LAN. You then enter matching settings on all client devices that are to connect wirelessly. The devices probably have wizards or quick start features in an attempt to make the whole process less confusing and easier, but when it doesn't work, you have to actually know what you're doing. So, begin by fully reading any manuals that came with the products and then post back here with specific questions and specific product models.

Microsoft has an excellent online Knowledge Base where each of the articles are numbered. There are no KB articles numbered 872211 but there is one numbered 871122 that addresses a problem with the Wireless Network Wizard after the installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 - Error message when you try to run the Wireless Network Setup Wizard after you update to Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005.

Your wireless adapter software is in control of your wireless adapter and not the Wireless Zero Configuration Wizard. This article addresses your particular problem and there are some good reference links at the bottom of the article that you should review as well.
