    Posibilities:

    1. cutting out on thermal
    2. cutting out on DC on the speakers (Volume too high)
    3. Wire gage supplying amp is too small. If the amp is 2000 watts RMS, your pulling 2000/12 amps or about 166 AMPS. You probably should be using #00 AWG wire which is about 9 and 1/4 mm in diameter.

Installing subwoofer & amp [ 1 Answers ]

I am trying to hook up a single MTX 800 watt speaker with an RMS of 400 watts & 8 ohms. What I want to know is... Does the RMS watts of the subwoofer need to match the RMS watts on the AMP? I have found many amps that output enough watts but the RMS is always lower than 400. Will that matter?
