Classic Board Game Baseball Trading Cards
Does anyone know if baseball trading cards from the 'CLASSIC' Board Game, MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL' are worth anything? They are in mint condition and incluse such players as Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson and several other big names. They set I have is from 1986.
    Thanks.

Who was the manufacturer of the board game, please? It would be helpful to know that in order to narrow down the searches some.

    Thanks!

It sounds to me like you have the Classic card sets. There is a yellow colored set that has Mark McGwire in it as well as Barry Bonds. If it is that 1987 Classic Yellow Update set, it will have 50 cards in it and it originally came in a 50 card sealed factory set. The book values of Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire are $10 each and the set also has a Mike Schmidt that books at $1, with the entire set booking at $25 according to the April/May 2006 Beckett Plus Price Guide.

If it is that set, if it has yellow or green backs (whatever those look like as I have never seen the set's different version) the whole set is worth $40. This information is per the Bekcett Plus Price Guide and the Barry Bonds card is widely considered by collectors to be equivalent to a rookie card, thus making it sought after.

That is the only Classic set booking in Beckett from 1986 or 1987, I think that is your set. If your Mike Schmidt card is #101 and there is a Bo Jackson #109 (book value $5) along with #113 Barry Bonds and #121 Mark McGwire, you have that great set. It is a nice set to have, I don't have one but it would go great in my collection and is too bad that I don't have it. (That is not an offer to buy or trade for it though)
