Hi,

Lately the water pressure from all the hot water faucets in the house is low compared to the cold water pressure. The tank is exactly 2 years old. I have a sediment filter on the line for the whole house, except the garden hose, thanks for any help.:( https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Have you tried flushing the tank? Just my first thought, there are some great plumbers here that will chime in I'm sure.

Amricca is putting you onto the best approach. That sediment filter helps but does not present a build up in a water heater 100%. Flush, not just drain, the heater. Attach a hose to the drain spigot at the bottom of the tank and run it to a drain. With the main still fully on open the ddrain and allow to flush for several minutes ot until there is absoultely no debris coming out. Let us know if this improved your pressure.

A few questions and we're off and running. Do you flush your heater on a regular maintenance schedule? If not let me show you how at the end of this post. Did this just start with one faucet or were all affected at the same time? Have you got heat trap nipples, (see image)installed? If you have then replace them with brass nipples.

For long life and fewer troubles you should keep your heater clear of mineral build-up by FLUSHING NOT DRAINING on a regular schedule. Attach a hose to the boiler drain at the bottom of the tank. With the pressure on, open the boiler drain and let it run until the water runs clear. You will see a spurt of red,(rust) followed by white or yellow grains,(lime or calcium carbonate). This shouldn't take more then a few minutes. Do this monthly to keep it clear. Now flush out your hot water lines on ALL fixtures that are affected . Now pull each aerator and clean the screens. Be sure you put them back togather the same way you took them out. Don't forget to flush it out every month. Your heater will thank you for it. Hope this helps, Tom
