Without specific model information and leakage of gasoline, a general answer would be yes, there is usually a gasket between a carburetor and an engine. Replacing it is usually a matter of unbolting the carb and any necessary linkage, changing the gasket with the right replacement gasket and any required sealant, and rebolting the carb tightening to the proper torque. I consider this a simple procedure, however, idiots by their nature, have a way of screwing up even simple things, so no any idiot cannot do it, although some idiots may be successful.

If the leak is oil, water, or other fluid, there exists another problem in addition to a bad gasket.

I would suspect that the fuel bowl gasket, or the sealing washer at the bottom of the carbs bowl is where the leak is from. Does it leak while it is running?
