    Divorce and tax rebate checks
Me and my ex didn't have our divorce over till the 1st of march. We filled married on taxes. In the final divorce degree it says that the tax money is to be split by the percent of income put in. The reason being is that my ex didn't work till after we split up she finally seen that MOST people need a job. We filed our taxes before the final papers were signed. The guy at h and r block figured out the percent that she was to get wrong. So I ended up paying her more then $550 over what she was entitled to. Then I got to sign my papers on the 15th of feb. about 10 days after we did our taxes. She turned around and quit her job on the 20th signed the divorce on the 28th stating that she worked and the day care was $110 a week and never told them she quit her job. Now that we are to get a tax rebate check do I really owe her over again? Since she was over paid? Does anyone know what the laws are ?

The tax rebate is not a tax refund, it is just that a tax rebate, it is issued not on how much you earned but a certain amount per person. The real issue is that our divorce papers did not talk about the rebate.

The tax issue is your issue and separate from the rebate,

What I wanted to know is since it's a total amount of money owed to her then as long as that amount is paid to her then there is nothing she can do is there?
She was owed $840 on federal
And I'm getting $900 on tax rebate so her part of that would be $450.00 and I gave her a money order for 1350. Then I don't owe her anymore do I ?
