    2 ac units or 1?
We are buying a house in Melbourne, FL with their optional energy efficiency package. Originally, they said there were going to be two ac units, now they came back and said the AC company changed to a new style handler and the second unit is no longer needed. The house is 2600 sq ft two story with 4 beds and a loft upstairs.

Can someone please help me out? We are paying a lot of $$ for the house.
    Thanks

Wrong on there part get the two units or tell them the deal is off. They are cheating you if you are still paying the same money. They are probably trying to save themselves some $$$.

If there is a unit that can handle the whole house when it gets horrid humidity outside in the summer in Florida, and it turns out to be one unit vs two units, then I would say go for it. But before you buy this unit, ask a lot of questions such as how much does this unit cost to run vs two units cost to run. You have a lot of space to suck out humidity in that home and a lot of air to move around. I had a huge home in South Fla and I had a single unit and it pushed a lot of air and did an OK job. The trick of the a/c's in Florida is to get a good air handler to move the air around. Also how far from the unit is the fartherest vent going to be located? You could lose a lot of cool air if the vent is too far from the unit. The two unit system does have it's pros due to the fartherest vent's location and how cool the air coming out of the vent will be. One end of my house was like the North Pole and the fartherest vent from the unit was not. That two system would aleviate this problem completely.
