Bankl withrdraws £500 of old credit card charges without notice
    Hi,

My bank Natwest has taken out money from my account without given me notification of this. I logged into my bank acct today and noticed this large sum of mone ymissing thinking someone has fraudently accessed and withdrawn from my acct. I called the bank to notify them and when they looked into it they then said this amount was taken out as there has been an amount outstanding on my credit card from 2004 that was not paid. I have however not had a credit card with the bank for three yrs. The same card was cancelled by me a few yrs back and I was not aware of the charges still due on the acct as the bank had not sent me statements even when I requested. I do however know they might have been a little bit of money due to them in 2004 but not to the value of £500.00. I am quite shocked that it is now 2008, they have not sent meany letters to this year informing me about the balance due but suddenly have withdrawn that amount of money with no notification. Are they not infringing my rights as a citizen? Am I not even allowed a letter of notification? Should I take legal action against them. Pelase advise?

    thanks

It is probably 500 including interest and I really can't believe they didn't notify you in all this time of an outstanding balance on your credit card not paid. Did you move and leave no forwarding address ? Have you moved many times or not just used this bank a lot ? Was it actually the bank that took the money, or a credit card company with a judgment against you, because that is the only way they can take money from your account is when they have been awarded a judgment. You must have known something, somewhere along the line. You just can't be unaware of a judgment against you.
