    Question
I am connected to the internet with cable. Left the computer on. Next thing you know my zone alarm says that there is a new connection and new IP address. So now I am under a new IP address. Did a scan found a trojan, got rid of everything. Should I worry that apparently there is a new connection or is it just the cable company doing this?

    Hi,
I would call your cable company, maybe TechHelp? That might be the fastest way to find out what's going on.
My IP address changed some time ago, called the ISP, and they confirmed it.
    Best of luck.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much. IP addresses do sometimes change. Might be worth trying a quick IP referesh/renew though - just to make sure you have the IP your ISP intends for you to have...

    • Click Start >> Run
    • Type "cmd" press enter
    • In the command prompt now shown type "ipconfig /release"
    • It should release your IP (your internet connection will drop out)
    • Now type "ipconfig /renew" - You'll get an IP assigned to you (chances are it'll be the same one)

I know this might sound silly, but I do not have the run option on the start menu.

Not silly at all. If you have XP, right-click on the Start button, select Properties, make sure the Start Menu tab is selected at top, click on Customize, put a checkmark in Display Run.
