I'm not quite sure where to start, so I'll start at the beginning. I started the Neva Ring for the first time on April 21st (Mon.) I put it in about 2 weeks after the first day of my LMP (Tuse. April 8th). I had unprotected sex several times while using it, starting a few days after I put it in. I took it out on the 12th of May (Mon.) as directed by my primary care Dr. and I waited for my period to start. 7 days later (Mon. May 19th) when it had not started and I had been feeling sick for a few days I took a HPT and it came back negative. That night my period started, so I went on about my life. However my period only lasted one day (until Tues. May 20th) and it was really light and had a lot of mucus, and I was still getting sick. In fact as of this morning
I realized I have been sick every morning at 8am for the last 4 days. I wake up and vomit then go back to bed until I have to be up around 9ish and by then I'm OK. Other than the strange period and being sick, I am also tired more often during the day, and my lower back is killing me. So to the question is, is it possible I am pregnant and I just tested too early? If so when should I test again? Thanks in advance for any help any one can give.

The ethinyl estradiol and etonogestrel vaginal ring will not prevent pregnancy if you wear it only during intercourse. You must wear the ring for 3 full weeks, followed by 1 full week without a ring. The timing of ring insertion and removal is very important for this medicine to be effective as a form of birth control. During the first 7 days of using your first vaginal ring, you may need to use back-up birth control, such as condoms or a spermicide. Therefore, yes you could be pregnant if you didn't use a backup the first week. You can test again in about 3-4 weeks if you still are having the symtpoms. This could also be a side effect of the medication... Continue using the medication and talk to your doctor if you have any of these less serious side effects:

Mild nausea, vomiting, bloating, stomach cramps;
Breast pain, tenderness, or swelling;
Freckles or darkening of facial skin;
Increased hair growth, loss of scalp hair;
Changes in weight or appetite;
Problems with contact lenses;
Vaginal itching or discharge;
changes in your menstrual periods, decreased sex drive; or
Headache, nervousness, dizziness, tired feeling

You need to call your doctor and let them know what you are experiencing so they can determine whether you are pregnant or it is a mild side effect. Good luck!

I left the nuva ring in the whole time, and my Dr. told me to put it in when I did, knowing I was mid cycle.
So I can't/should not test again for 3-4 weeks? That seems like a long time. I am a smoker, and am not planing on quiting until I know if I'm pregnant.
