    Could pain be cancer?
    Hi,

My dad has been having pain in his low back/waist area (right where a belt would be) for about 2 months. The pain also radiates to the groin area and the front of his right thigh is numb at times. The only relief to this pain is lying flat in bed. Let me also add a little more medical history on him. He has had prostate cancer (part was removed), kidney cancer (they removed one kidney), and removed part of his liver. He was told that it was just back pain due to the L5 vertebrae. Could it be more or am I being overly concerned? I am always worried about the cancer returning or spreading to bone cancer. Thanks for any and all advice!

He should for sure go to his doctor, and have him check into it. Pain is the body's way of saying something is wrong. Its always better to go a find out sooner than later. Hope everything turns out to be okay. God bless, and many prayers.

Concerned Mom is 100% right. My father had pain around his waist, espec in front, to the extent that he couldn't wear a belt. It turned out to be some type of abdominal aneurism.
I am not a medical person and I don't presume to know what you dad's problem is, but with the other problems he definitely needs to get checked out.

And it could just be a bad back, With bad backs sometimes you can't even turn over in bed for the pain, So only the doctors after an exam will know for sure.

With his history of cancer[s] he should have a bone scan. I hope it is just a muscle strain and he feels better.

Is your father overweight? That causes a lot of problems related to pain.

Nevertheless, he should get an immediate consultation to check to see if there has been a return of cancer.
