Hi, We have a nine year old Great Pyrenes, Delilah. She was diagnosed with cancer that was found in her mammary gland, but the vet said that it's not mammary cancer. He removed the tumor and we decided not to do any treatments after that. We were told that it was a fast growing cancer and that she had about six months... that was two years ago!

Delilah continues to be very healthy accept that lately she has been standing and staring blankly at nothing in our yard for a few minutes. She isn't displaying any other symptoms. She does the same thing in our house at times and actually let a treat fall to the floor once as she was in her daze-like states.

Any thoughts?

It's possible that this is a type of seizure. Try to keep a diary of when these episodes happen, how long they last, and any other related information, such as who was present, the weather, espcially low-pressure fronts, and even the phase of the moon.
Also talk to your vet about the possibility of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction, sort of a "doggie alzheimers". They just sometimes seem to lose their train of thought "what did I come over here for?" "Was I on my way in or out of the house?"
She needs some blood work run if it has not already been done, to rule out physical problems.

I am going to give you a link to a site that may help some. My sister sent it to me when her dog was diagnosed with cancer, and he lived virtually pain free for another 4 yrs, (to the age of 16) and it helped with a lot of his symptoms. My sister said it worked wonders, and she swears by it! Just a suggestion, but it may help some. Good luck to you and your dog! :)

Thank you both for answering my question! We will take Delilah in to see what the vet thinks... Doggy Alzheimer's seems very possible.
