What to do with dry hair.
I don't really mind my hair, but I have a tough time managing it. I have really thick and wavy hair and I like to keep it longer. It takes more time to deal with, but I don't mind because I like the way it looks.
My problem is I just don't know how to make it look good. It feel dry all the time. I use shampoo and conditioner for dry or frizzy hair, but I still have issues. I put on mousse or gel or creams to make it look nice for the day, but in the less then an hour it just looks bad again and it makes my hair feel sticky and heavy as opposed to all nice and shiny and flowy like in the commercials.

I would like to wear my hair down, but it's hard for me to make it look good and last through out the day... or even just the evening. I try new products all the time, but hard to find anything. Does anyone know any good products? Are there fancy expensive stuff I need to buy for this or would that even be any different?

And also, I never blow dry my hair. I barely even use a straigtner... maybe once every few months or something. So I try to stay away from things that dry it out.

Maybe you should get it thinned out and get a cut that incorporates that. I use olive oil to condition my hair. About an ounce heated in the microwave and rubbed into wet hair and a good hot towel wrapped around it for l0 minutes. Then wash.

Tickle is right. A good cut would help it a lot. Razored cuts are great for thick hair as it thins out the bulkiness and gives it incredible texture! And olive does really help lots!

Also, opt for smoothing hair products like hair serum. I use Wella's high hair Pure Glamour. But there are other good alternatives out there like Umberto Giannini's Gloss Laminate or Gloss Serum. Don't use mousse or any sort of gels. They're more for volumising and just general shaping. You need to smooth it :D

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to try the olive oil.
