    Hair color disaster!
OK so I thinki have an addiction to dying my hair. I just love the change you know? So anyway my hair pulls red really bad because of the well-water at my home. My natural hair is a mix of blonde red brunnette... so here's what happened.

I had colored my hair about 2 months ago and it was faded and time to freshen itup. I bought natural instincts brass free brunnette the last time I colored my hair and it worked great with the existing highlights I had etc... well this time I bught the same thing the brass free stuff and... oh dear! There was 3 inches from my roots that was a red color and the rest of my hair was a med. Brown, and 2'' of the tips were almost black!! What the hell happened? So I panicked andbought another kiit a few days later to add some highlighting and to just add some other colors to break of the crazyness... its now orangy gold highlights with the black brown red hair!!

Someone please help me. I do not trust the professionals with coloring my hair because of several bad experiences. And I have colored my hair before and it turned out great but now its going terrible... any advice?

Aww honey. It seems your hair must have been uneven coloured due to incorrect application. Never apply colour to the roots first when you're doing a full head. Always apply colour to the midlengths first, ends then roots. At the roots there is more heat as it is coming from the scalp so that speeds up the process.

Looks like you will really need to see a professional to avoid more disasters. I know you don't trust them but you can try find reputable ones. As trying to fix this one at home looks very tricky.

Hi there. Another thing to think about, is that box colors that you buy at the store, are all compounding dyes, which means each time you use the color it is going to get a little darker each time. When using box colors you should only let it sit on the previously colored hair for about 5 minutes because it is already colored you just want to freachen it up a bit. Also once you put dye into your hair, if you try to go lighter, at all it will more than likely turn a shade of orange.
