I started my lawn mower first time this season after it was buried in snow under plastic cover for 5 months. It started but it is spitting oil from the left side as you stand behind it. How can I fix this ? Or is time for a new mower ?

Let's ask a few questions about location:

1. Air filter?
2. Muffler
3. Oil breather? - usually there is an open rubber hose pointing down on the side of the engine.

Is the engine overfilled with oil?

Oil is coming out of the mufler. The engine is not overfilled with oil.

This is kind of hard to think through. If the engine has power, then it's not exhaust valves or rings.

It could very well be the oil breather. I'm thinking that something nested in it over the winter. It should be a cheap part, so it might be worth replaceing.

On the side of the engine furthest from the spark plug there should be a rubber tube heading to no where. Thiis is attached to a rectangular item which is the oil breather.
I'd suggest replacing it.

If the air cleaner has oil in it, then it's definitely the problem.

Spray a little carb cleaner into the spark plug hole. It will act as starting fluid and will also do some cleaning in that area.
