I have had a dba for a year now and I want to start my corporation because my husband and his corp (restaurant) I was the secretary of his company and now that company that's out of business and him personally are being sued for a note the he is liable for.. Has your husband posted this question before? If not, someone else has the same problem/question.

Again - you need an Attorney to protect yourself and your assets if you are intending to form a Corporation. You are playing with potentially high stakes and need legal advice. I am concerned because you don't seem to have a lot of understanding of corporate law - what works and what does not, how to protect yourself.

Yes, what business do you do, to incorporate, and what business earnings and what busienss property is going in.

Also all property you jointly owned at the time of his judgement or loss would not be protected by merely moving it.

You need an attorney, not a online form since this is very very complicated.

Hello lilgal:

There are two parts to your question, 1) why you need a corporation and what it will do for you, and 2) where to go to set one up.

My friends are right, you're going to need a lawyer for the first part. But there's no need spending the extra $100's he's going to charge you for setting it up. Once you know what you want and why, I'd go to the Company Corporation to actually do it. They make it easy, quick and cheap.
