I Don't Know What Happened.Everything Was Going So Well
So a brief introduction to myself, I'm a college student in a very urban school and somehow everyone knows me and who I am and says hi to me and all that (not a frat guy or jock, but sort of the guy seen everywhere), I am usually in the school paper, essentially I am quite popular and have usually dated whichever girl I have so desired. Now the thing is most of these brief relationships tend not to be long-lived only because 1) my aim is not to sleep with as many girls I can find, and 2) I don't actually want to hurt any of the girls I date, so if I know there's no legitimate future (short-term or long-term) I tend not to continue dating them. And then I met "Madeleine," as we shall call her for all intents and purposes. The second I laid eyes on her I felt like I was exploding far up in the sky, but in a good way. To make a long story short we went out on a couple of dates (I was too nervous to kiss her at any of the five dates we went on, that's never happened to me before, but I felt too much was at stake and I didn't want to mess it all up) and I told her that I really liked her by text-message, to which she replied with a :) that, when I asked her to, she clarified to be a bit of a smile and a bit of a smirk, but most definitely a smile indeed. We held hands for a while during date(s) and albeit hopelessly romantic sounding, I could physically feel myself swirl in her gaze when she did that sort of fawning look-thing girls do. Spring break came along and she had to leave, I had a death in the family and took out another week, when I got back she stopped answering my texts (that she had slowly been ignoring before break) and everything is now reduced to a simple nod when passing each other in the street (I tried saying something once, but she kept walking when I called after her). When we had first started (all of it--the dating and seeing each other--having occupied a span of two weeks or so) she had told me she liked me and that she was (yes, she said this flat out) interested and intrigued, at the time I had smiled (she smiled back, flash back and forth a la Martin Scorcese if you'd like) and we did the cute sort-of hug-and-side-arm-clench thing that old quiet anglo-saxon couples do in AARP ads, but trust me at the time, it might as well have been as lifting as a falling from a plane in reverse.

Some feedback would be welcome, if not invited...

You have nothing to lose by just straight up asking her what the deal is... if she likes you still then whoopdy do for you, go nuts. If not then you'll be fine, it sounds like you could move onto another girl quite easily

Maybe you freaked her out too much.. If a guy shows too much interest it can be a turn off.. maybe it was the way you acted around her that showed you were way too in to her.. if you're popular or not the girl isn't going to hang around if she's not feeling it.. also another possbility is when you left because of the death she may have lost the interest that she had for you. She could be interested in someone new

But it totally doesn't hurt by talking to her, I almost don't even think you should ask her why she ignored you, just casually ask her if she wants to hang out sometimes, read her vibes or if it's on the phone read her voice... Don't SEND HER A TEXT MESSAGE!! That's wussy

It appears she's broken it off with you. You may have no say in that. But that also means you have nothing to lose by pressing the point.

Knock on her door and say "hi". Take it from there.
