Debit garnishment of a bank account
I was sued by a debt collector and was ordered to pay 25 percent of my income. I recently had a debit charge to my bank account also by the same company which made my account overdrawn. I wanted to find out if they can charge me like that since they already take 25 percent of my earnings and then turn around and take another 25 percent from my account after I deposit what's left of my paycheck. That seems to me to be a little off, that is 50 percent of my earnings. This is an old credit card debt from 2002. Thank you for your time.

This is a state by state issue, in many US states, actually they can take all of your bank account 100 percent, and also garnish your paycheck.
