    Lawnmower spits oil and smoke
The lawnmower runs but spits oil and smokes. We emptied both the oil and gas and foud that there is oil in the gasoline.

Is this fixable or should we buy a new lawnmower?

    Judy,

Some mowers are 2 cycle mowers and require a 40:1 oil to be placed in the gas. Usually one small jar of 40:1 to one gallon of gasoline.

The better the grade of oil, the less it will smoke.

If you are using a 4 cycle mower, you do not use oil in the gas.

Look in the instruction book for your mower and see if it 2 cycle and needs oil in the gas.

Your found oil in the gas or gas in the oil crank case, the latter is most common.

I am thinking they mean gas in the crankcase, and this could lead to the smoking and oil/ gas mixture going into the exhaust causing the smoking. This is a prime example of the lack of the five senses God blessed us with, if we could be there and SEE the engine and the oil level, we would know.
