Don't know if is a true verification
I contacted several Collection agencies about verification and a couple replied with a sheet of paper telling me that the account was bought from the original creditor and how much was owed.

However that was it! Nothing else. Aren't they supposed to give me all the history of the account as well as signatures etc!

Also if they sue, can they use this sheet of paper or do they need more?

I contacted several Collection agencies about verification and a couple replied back with a sheet of paper telling me that the account was bought from the original creditor and how much was owed.

Let's answer these questions in reverse order...

    1. They can sue for any reason they want. That does not mean they will win! If that's all they have, it doesn't look positive for them.

    2. Yes... Also make sure they are legally able to collect in your state. Where I am, the Secretary of State regulates the collection agencies. Check in your state.

    3. That is pretty typical for those clowns to only get that. You are right to ask for much more.

If it were me... I would write a letter to each of the three credit reporting agencies and enclose copies of what they sent you and the letter you sent to them requesting it. Tell the CRAs that since the collection agencies cannot VALIDATE the information they are reporting, they are doing it illegally and it needs to be removed now! Send it certified mail, return receipt requested so you have a record that you sent it and give them 30 days to respond. If they do not respond within a reasonable time, you can sue (I would include that in the letter also... ). Of course, that's just me and should not be construed as legal advice.

    LG

PS. If they sue, you have all the paperwork you need for court. If they do not have the information legally required to report to the CRAs, they don't have it to win a suit either.
