Reset breaker inside and out unit will not run ac or heat
My 3 year old carrier model 50HS 024 311 heat pump will not come on at all, no fans inside or out, nothing. The digital themostat seems fine. I have reset the breaker at the fuse box and the one out by the unit but no help.
The unit was working fine yesterday cooling the house. Then we had a cold front so I turned the unit to heat and left the house. I came back and the house was cold and my girlfriend said the heat never came on. So, I went to investigate. I found out I accidentally threw the switch to emergency heat instead of just heat and it had been that way for a couple of hours.
I am not sure if that was concidece or the root cause but either way the it did not come on when I switched it and the unit hasn't come on since.

The carrier mannual I found online didn't get me any further. I don't know anything about HVAC and the mannual didn't tell me to do anything except what I've already tried.

I removed some of the cover on the unit and the screen that gives diag codes was blank and the heating coils didn't heat when I turned the thermostat to heat so I am pretty sure the entire unit isn't getting power. Didn't see any fuses to test or reset switches but I also didn't remove the flashing between the house and the unit.

Read something in the mannual about emergency heat, power to the unit being off, and needing up to 8 hours to kick in so I set the thermostat to emergency heat and leaving it on for the next 8 hours.

Would someone, please, give me a few suggestions to try before I call a technican?

There might be fuses in the outside unit under the cover unless you reset a circuit breaker there already.
You might check the circuit board on the inside unit for a fuse. If defective replace with like same value.

Check the fuse on the board. If you don't have any signal at the board it most likely is the fuse. Next you need to find out why the fuse blew. Might need at tech for that.

Thanks for the tips you guys.:) Going back out to see if I can find a fuse on the board.

UPDATE: I went back out to look for a fuse on the board. There wasn't one I could see but I started following the wires around and sure enough there was a 3 amp fuse/breaker switch on the lower part of a white plastic box near the board that had been tripped. I flipped back and what do you know... it's working.

Chilly girlfriend and wallet are much happier now so thanks, again.

If anyone else has a 50HX model Carrier heat pump that isn't powering look for that switch (bottom half of a white plastic box just to the right of the board which is under the top cover) and try it maybe it will save you a service call too.
