    Child Support Modification
I am about to file for a child support modification because my ex husband's income has increased. What will happen if he does not show up for the hearing? Also he said he wants to file for joint custody in (2) years. Does that mean he no longer has to pay child support?

There are two types of custody, legal and physical. Legal custody means that the parent has a say in how the child is raised. Physical custody refers to who the child lives with. Your ex can file for joint physical custody and that could affect support if the child will be spending a significantly larger amount of time with him.

If he doesn't show up for the hearing, either the judge will issue a supeona or just award you what you want.
