Son's father has a lien on banking account
Hello, My son's father has notified me that his bank accounts have a lien on them from the Child Support office here in Texas. What does that mean for me? He is definitely behind to the tune of 31k. I did not contact the Attorney General for this. They have done this on their own. Glad for that but, I don't know what is going on and trying to call the AG is a hassel.
Thanks for any reply's.

It means that you will start receiving this back child support, as long as they are able to take what he has in the bank.
You know that he of course will change his banking to another bank once they get the money that is in this account.
Then the entire process to locate the new account information will start all over again.
I hope he had a lot of money in that account!

It means if there was any money in that account, it will process though the child enforcement agency. Now there is several issues, have you received any state benfits, if so, part of the money may go to the state to repay some of those benefits. But you should start getting some money, just depends on how much was in the bank. So obvously he will not put any more money into that account

Yeah, I have read other threads here that suggest he will either close or of course stop putting money in the account.
I have received no government support.
Will the lien hold/take all the money in the account? He has a new family and even though he's a tool I would hate for it to effect his daughter. Sorry to ask such simple questions but the enforcement link on the Texas AG's site is broken.
Thanks for the quick replies.

I believe that child support can take every penny.
It may vary from state to state, but I have read many reports of accounts being completely emptied, and having been charged fees for draining the account.
I have never felt sorry for ANYONE who would not support the children they brought into this world. That being said, I have seen some horrendous things happen to fathers who have been wronged by revengeful mothers set on destroying them.
I admire the fact that you are concerned for the daughter, but you can't let him off the hook for what he should have done and didn't.
