    Cannot Access Shared Network Recources
    Help!

I am trying to network two computers. Computer #1 is a Dell dimension 3000 desktop system that is connected to the Netgear Wireless router via a ethernet cable. Computer #2 is a Dell Inspiron B130 notebook that is connected to the Router via a wireless connection. Both computers are running windows xp home SP2 and have access to the internet over the network. I cannot see the shared printer or folders on the desktop from the notebook and I can't see the shared files on the notebook from the desktop. Both computers can ping each other. I can see the other computer in the "veiw workgroup computers" but when I click on the other computer I get the message "\\DESKTOP (or NOTEBOOK) is not accessible. You might not have permission to veiw this network resource. Blah Blah Blah, contact your network administrator" I am the ADMIN!

P.S. both of the computers used to be in a wired network without internet with each other and worked fine!

I am at my wits end with this one!

    Hi, I assume the following:
    - both computers have the same class of static or dynamic IPS in case there is a DHCP configured
    - DNS is working well
    - both the computers have files on a valid recognied FAT32 or NTFS partition

Did you try to connect to the computer by IP //IPADDREESS/C$??
Try to access the C drive by IP.. if this is also unsuccessful
CHECK IF THE BY DEFAULT FIREWALL ON XP IS SWITCHED OFF.. IF ITS SWITCHED ON, YOU CANNOT ACCESS REMOTE COMPUTERS.. hope this helps..

All of your assumptions are correct.
The XP firewall is off and the other firewalls are set to allow the ip range.

P.S. the IP tip didn't help, sorry

    Any other Ideas?

Actually the problem fixed itself. The laptop crashed and I lost all of my data and settings. This means that as soon as I had it up and running again it watalking to the other computer!

Very often, I've found that deleting the LAN Adapter and starting from scratch works.
